Have you ever thought of stepping on the moon and leaving your footprints permanently on the Lunar dust? Well, if you would like to, you are lucky, because there is a great role model for you, and his name is James Benson Irwin .Read on to find out more about this mind blowing man’s remarkable life.
Did you know that this extraordinary life began on march 17th , 1930 in a town called Pennsylvania in Pittsburgh (although originally his parents came from Northern Ireland.)
He wanted to be an astronaut since he was a kid, but when he told his neighbours they all laughed, and when he told his parents his mom said “forget it, you will never complete your goal,”. Tis great man’s school was Charter Elementary School.
Surprisingly this man was chosen in the NASA astronaut training on 1966 at the age of 36 years old. When he went to university he was already quite famous ,he was a famous student in the Central Michigan University
His greatest achievement was going to the moon (he was the 8th man on the moon.) In the year 1971 July 27th he went on the Apollo 11 to go to the moon and stayed there till August 7th. He successfully had a safe landing!
Sadly he passed away by a heart attack in 1991 at the age of 61. I think if he was still alive he would make lots more achievements for mankind!
